2016 Tallgrass Artist Residency
Group Exhibition

October 1 – November 20, 2016

“Though only a fraction of the unique tallgrass ecosystem remains, the prairie has been instrumental in constructing a narrative and identity of the North American Midwest. The goal of this residency program is to spread awareness of the prairie as an ecosystem worth protecting by inviting artists from diverse communities to contribute their voices to a conversation about place.”

Throughout the spring and summer, each artist has completed a two week residency in the Flint Hills engaging with the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and lodging in Matfield Green. The artists will be presenting their work and experiences at a public symposium in Manhattan before migrating down to Matfield Green for an evening opening of the exhibition.
